How to Be a Girly Girl

How to Be a Girly Girl

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Become a girly girl or a trendy girl! Change pants into a skirt, Change a shirt into a cute shirt! Turn shoes into heels! Turn a ponytail into a Bun! Change anything you want by just following the steps!

Steps

  1. Substitute clumsiness and jerky movements with graceful and fluid actions. You'll feel like a fake if you just clump along while walking. True "girly girls" sort of look like they're floating.
  2. Buy clothing that always fits and gives you a waist.
  3. Have a sense of style. Being in fashion is a must. Try to read more fashion magazines to learn what kinds of clothing go well together and how to put together a classy outfit. Be sure to create your own fashion and have your own style, because it's not right to wear something that just isn't you. It's often better to have a basic personal style than to always be chasing the latest "fad" look.
  4. Take care of your skin. Skin should be well cared for and clear of imperfections. Wash your face everyday and remember to wear sunscreen or shade hats. Try to give yourself a mask facial once a week.
  5. Remember: makeup usually makes you look polished. Lip gloss and mascara is perfect for everyday wear. You can also wear cheek tints and eye shadow, if you want. Foundation makes your skin look flawless, but too much can look fake. If you can't use makeup, don't worry, your face is already pretty. Use perfume like ones that smell like say tangerine, strawberry, coconut, etc. If you can't use perfume, at least use nice smelling deodorant.
  6. Groom yourself every day. A good grooming routine everyday, is taking a shower, and shaving. Brush your teeth twice and floss at least once a day. Apply body lotion. The last step is perfume. Pick a custom scent for yourself to be your trademark.
  7. Have good hygiene. Remember to always be clean: run a comb through your hair, keep your nails dirt-free and neat, brush your teeth and bathe/shower. When spraying perfume, be sure to use just enough, but not too much. Excessive use of perfume isn't attractive and does not improve your hygiene, despite popular belief. Being clean is important; being grubby isn't girly and isn't ladylike. Never have greasy hair. It is gross and very trashy.
  8. Take care of your nails as well. Treat yourself to a pedicure/manicure, and make sure to keep from biting your nails, picking at them, etc. People notice your hands more than you think, and jagged nails don't look very nice. Try to go to a nail salon to get your nails done. If you can't, just do it by yourself or with a family member. If this is your first time being a girly-girl-in-training, try not to use dark colors like black. Use girly colors like pink, purple, etc.
  9. Look after your hair. Make sure you comb it with a wide toothed comb or a brush, wash it every day or every other day, depending on your hair type, and don't use too many hair products. Straightening your hair every day could cause serious damage, so use a heat protection spray! You can also go for soft curls. Formal (regular) buns and messy buns are cute too.
  10. Keep in tip-top shape. Don't eat too much dessert. It would be smart to eat low-fat (or fat-free) foods. Exercise daily. However, this doesn't mean starve yourself. You don't have to be stick thin. As long as you're healthy, you're fine!
  11. Use mostly pastel colors such as pink and baby blue. Especially pink. Purple is a very pretty color as well. However, you can still wear, red, green, black, etc. Just because you're a girly girl doesn't mean you have to wear pink or purple all the time.
  12. Have a bright personality, bubbly and happy. Don't giggle all the time, because people will find that really annoying. Instead, make other people laugh, and be really cute. Don't take yourself too seriously. Be sweet and friendly, do not yell too much.
  13. Get girly clothes - skirts, cute shirts, accessories, jeans, cute shorts...anything bright is good. Make an effort to look around. When you first start coming out of your "comfort" zone you won't like anything and will keep saying "no" to everything you see. Go to every store you can. You might get tired of walking around, but just looking is a big step! Go with your friends who have style or with somebody who has any style different than yours! Let them help you, but develop your own style and don't just copy theirs.
  14. Wear jeans that fit. Don't wear low cut jeans if you don't feel comfortable, but make sure your jeans fit you and are not tight or baggy. A belt is okay, but the fit says it all. Try on lots of brands, styles, cuts, and sizes. Not every size jean will fit the same depending on the brand. The same goes with shirts. Not tight, not baggy. If your shirt is so tight you can see your bra or you have trouble getting your shirt off of your back, then it's too tight. To see if the shirt is too small, raise your arms up. If your stomach shows when you do this, then the shirt may be too small. Things like camisoles are supposed to fit tight.
  15. Stick to nice colors, nothing to violent or something that stands out too much. Nice colors would be anything light, clean and fresh looking. Nice outfits-jeans and shirts that suit you, skirts and tank tops, that kind of thing, leggings are nice too. Pair things up with a pair of shoes that fit and go with the outfit, and maybe a simple, plain chain and bracelet. Earrings can be a little long if you want-but nothing that is too violent.
  16. Keep your teeth nice and white. There are several ways to get the perfect dazzling smile. If your teeth are crooked, don't shy away from braces. Just think of them as jewelry for your teeth! For whitening, you can either do it yourself at home with a store-bought product (such as crest white strips) or go to a dentist that also has expertise in the area of cosmetic dentistry to get them professionally whitened.
  17. Be romantic. Girliness is also associated with romance sometimes. Be sure to read/write romance novels and develop a keen interest in poetry. You can also make this your music style by listening to love songs.
  18. Learn to talk well. Swearing your head off or talking really loudly in an accent people can hardly make out is most definitely unattractive, and not lady like. Talking well is quite an art. Find a good tone so that people can hear you without straining their eardrums or covering their ears. A medium tone is best. Speak very clearly. If you're talking in a strong accent, not many will understand you.
  19. Stop swearing. It may be hard to cut out, but swearing is one of the worst things you could do if you're trying to be ladylike. Try making a deal with your friends about not swearing for a day. Just think about proving to everyone you have the will power and self control to actually control and think about what comes out of your mouth. If you're a person who swears loads, this is not a ladylike thing. Definitely say things like "shoot" and "idiot". Try not to use bad words like "crap" or "moron". They're not okay. Try to make very calm and civil comebacks, not the regular old stuff. It'll take practice, but it's a huge step towards being ladylike and girly.

  20. Be graceful. This is a difficult step, but also a crucial one. Being graceful doesn't mean you have to hate sports and walk on tip toe. Just make sure you walk with your head up, shoulders rolled back and your back straight. Don't swagger, or swing your hips. It looks exaggerated and weird. Don't swing your arms either - keep them by your side.
  21. Have good taste in clothing: Be modest in clothing and avoid clothing of bad taste. Extremely low necklines, too short skirts, belly-bearing tops and revealing clothing can make a girl look like she does not respect her body and herself. Shirts with inappropriate sayings, logos can make a girl look like she's desperate for attention. The posh are not desperate for attention.
  22. Don't stuff your face with food - chew your food and don't make any noises or gulp it down. Don't take huge bites either - just normal ones. Avoid eating anything that could get messy and sticky. Don't slouch when you're sitting in a chair-press your back against it and press your feet against the floor. Avoid folding your arms too-it gives off a "Get lost" vibe, and can make you look unsure about who you are and where you stand. Try not to put your hands in your pockets too much either. Just practice keeping them by your sides. It feels awkward, but actually looks completely normal.
  23. Hang out with gal pals. Girls love the mall, shopping, and almost anything associated with beauty. Get a group of friends and have a shopping spree, makeovers, a sleepover, a bake sale or any girl-related activity.
  24. Keep a diary. Draw girly stuff in it, like hearts, other cartoon characters, flowers and write poems and stories and so on.
  25. Girly girls always want to be the center of attention. So try being out there, but don't get into too much drama.
  26. Be organized. If you are organized, you'll always be able to find the things you're looking for.And being disorganized is unladylike.
  27. Watch shows and channels on TV, like MTV and Teen Nick. Reality shows are in with girly girls.
  28. Always have a cute purse on your arm.
  29. If you curl your eyelashes you don't always have to wear mascara
  30. Always be nice and generous. Having a selfish and nasty attitude towards others will drag you very far away from being ladylike. Always have a smile on your face, and be willing to let people borrow things from you. Be nice to everyone, even people who you think are losers, because nobody is a loser and everyone is a human being. Everyone deserves a chance, so make sure you give it to them. Don't exclude people from games, gifts, or secrets, keep your promises and don't gossip. Don't be mean or hot headed-always keep your cool.
  31. NEVER, EVER let anyone mess with you. If someone is bullying you in any matter, you do NOT put up with it. It is disgusting behavior, and you don't let ANYONE walk all over you. This is the time to unleash the nasty.
  32. Have a few possible comments to respond with if someone is insulting you. If you cannot think of anything, the insults will come depending on the person. Always be nice to other people, unless you have something against them.
  33. Make sure your belongings are neat. Make sure you label and cover all of your school and text books. Try just covering them with clear contact paper-it looks a lot neater. If you really like patterned contact paper, try the metallic looking ones that come in red, silver, blue and gold. Label your things and look after them to make sure they don't get lost or damaged. Buy some nice pencils and pens-a nice, fancy pen or a cute colored pencil. Make sure you always have enough of everything-constantly asking to borrow things isn't very lady like. When buying a school bag, go for light and neutral colors and posh brands-stuff that's good quality. Don't buy anything in dark colors like navy blue or black.
  34. Concentrate in School. It's important to be looked on as intelligent at school. Try hard in every single subject and class you take, and always hand in homework ON TIME. Don't talk during class-you have loads of time for that later. Don't pass notes either-it gets very embarrassing if you're caught. Ask questions and participate in class discussions. Try to get involved with the school and its' activities, too. Reading up on background information about a topic you're studying is good too, and can actually be interesting. Help others if they're struggling, and don't suck up to your teachers.

Tips

  • Try not to worry what others think!
  • Say more hi than hey. It's more girly.
  • Never contemplate releasing any form of gas from your body in front of anyone under any circumstances.
  • Remember, wear lots of pink! Combine it with other colors, for example white, or even black. These are the colors that work best with pastels.
  • Sparkles are great! But don't over-do it. Sparkly lip-gloss, or hair sparkles are fine.
  • Keep your grades as neat as your wardrobe.
  • Some pretty hairstyles are french braids, loose pigtails, messy buns, and The Fishtail Braid. If you're sick of your everyday hair, get it layered or go for a cute, girly cut. Ask your hair dresser what they think would suit you.
  • Make sure your teeth are in good shape, not stained, and breath smelling good.
  • A true girly girl knows that a purse is a must. Your purse should have the basics: lip gloss, mints/gum, perfume, a nail file, & whatever else you think you need!
  • A girly girl must not talk so loud and keep a pace of her speaking.
  • Have a good posture when sitting or standing.
  • Be polite to everyone you meet.
  • Don't wear too much makeup, just stick with your basics: lip gloss, mascara, and eye shadow (but not too much: it will make you look like a clown and you are trying too hard).
  • A girly girl should not have too much hair on her legs(a little is OK), but no hair on underarms.
  • Get some lip glosses and cute jewelry that suits you but don't go over the top.
  • Wear both lipstick and lip-gloss. First add a base coat of lipstick and then add some good smelling and sparkly lip-gloss to help it shine!
  • Make sure your hair is neat ALL the time! Set it in a different hairstyle everyday, to make everyone dazzled. Don't always leave your hair open. Braid it! Curl it! Straighten it! Tie it!
  • Smile! No girl will be completed without a smile!
  • Be nice to others even though sometime they won't be nice to you cause it feels good to know your a better person.
  • When at school, always have a organized locker or desk.
  • Wear little pink clips in your hair and wear dresses and mainly bright colored stuff.
  • At school , keep some lip-gloss with you at all times, and maybe a small tin of face moisturizer. You never know..you MIGHT just get a pimple or even worse, a spot during the day!
  • Don't become snobby or stuck-up, even if it seems like a good idea. It's not. Stick to your friends, be pleasant, and, as before mentioned, give everyone a chance.
  • Don't do anything to get you in trouble. Try not to break too many serious rules, and always think about the consequences of your actions before you actually carry them out. You never know-it might just save you an unlady like detention.
  • Alternately, you could skip gender roles and just be a person.
  • If your planing to be a girly girl dont start in the middle of the week!you dont wanna be goth one day then all cute the next day that will give you the wanna-be trait and that's absolutely horrible start your training Friday when you come home from school then you will start a fresh new girly week then people will think you changed. if people ask what happened to you just say a little white lie im being my self but dont lie at all to much or people will think your fake.

Warnings

  • If the old you is good, then there is no need to change.
  • Don't be masculine.
  • Protect your name.
  • Don't fall for the commercialism trap of 'needing' the latest fad.
  • Don't get dirty or muddy.
  • Try to be a good person cause you don't want to be disliked.
  • Try to keep your voice soft and light instead of screaming and yelling.
  • Any sport is good, but volleyball is the best for girls. Soccer is the next best sport. You can get muddy, but who cares? You take a nice shower afterward.
  • Never bite your nails!
  • Always stay calm around boys, and never be scared to talk.
  • Have great posture, or sorta lean on ur hip or against a wall (always looks cute)
  • Some people may dislike you or call you stuck-up or nerdy. If you know you've done nothing wrong or nasty, simply ignore them. They're trying to bring you down, so don't let them.
  • Be intelligent. A girly girl should have good topics to talk about . So study about things that you find interesting and important for life. Read books and improve your vocabulary, and don't use the word "like" all the time; it's a sign of poor education and nervousness. People will admire you because you're smart and have confidence that may be very convenient to you.
  • Tattoos and Body Piercings- Appearances convey a strong message to others; you can be judged by an individual or right before an event that will play a prominent role in your future (e.g. a prospective employer, acquiring a higher position in a reputable company, etc.). Therefore, take careful consideration when deciding if it is a good ideal for you to get visible tattoos or body piercings. Even though a person’s outward appearance does not automatically show his or her true inner qualities, appearances can reflect how a person is willing to be perceived by the world. Also keep in mind that although tattoos and piercings are individual expressions, they can be permanent or difficult (even costly) to remove if you change your mind in the future. If you are in doubt about how tattoos and piercings may impact you in the future, forget about getting them and find other ways to show self expression, such as creating works of art, poetry, hobbies, etc.
  • Value your virtues. If you have any good skill or kind of talent, such as drawing, or dancing, singing or playing any musical instrument, do not hide it, work it. Let people see how good you are by exposing your pictures, or maybe playing a musical instrument in front of someone. If you're good at acting, look for a part in any play at theater.
